The Best Time To Train Your Puppy Or Dog

Let's be sure you know your puppy before training.

We teach dogs for a living, but you know what? We still f#$@ up all the time! We’ve forgotten to put away our shoes and come home to puppy-chewed laces. We’ve left stuff on the counter and turned our back on our Sunday dinner only to turn around and see that it’s disappeared. We’ve yelled after a particularly piercing puppy chomp, because dang that stuff hurts! These are all mistakes we’ve made even though we know better, but I promise you: our dogs are still happy, healthy, and (reasonably) well behaved.

You have our permission: don’t sweat the small stuff! 😟🐶🫣

It’s one thing to know what the best practices are when raising your puppy… but it’s an entirely different thing to turn those best practices into reality! What we want YOU to know is that you don’t have to be perfect! If you can be consistent in your training protocols at least 80% of the time, you’re still going to see great results.

Everyone needs a little grace! You. Your pup. And even us. 😉😂

Training isn’t always the answer. Sometimes it isn’t time to train your puppy or dog at this moment. If your puppy is anxious, scared, not hungry or simply too tired, it’s time for a sense of safety, support and connection. Puppy Training tasks can wait until your puppy has shifted into a better state of mind for training. It’s okay, those big feelings always shift. Then your puppy will be an enthusiastic learner again.

At Go Anywhere Dog, we see your puppy or dog and we teach you exactly how to see what your puppy needs at any given moment. You’ll learn all this and so much more in our Puppy Training Classes or our Dog Training Classes.
